:: How would you open these cards?
Would you peel it open like a traditional card, or would you see the brad and spin it open?I designed these to spin open but I've now given them to 3 people and they ALL tried to pry them apart. I'm not sure whether to laugh...or scream in frustration.
My husband said I should put arrows pointing to each side to indicate they should spin or rotate. My response to that . . ."On the front? In the middle of my beautiful designs? No. Don't be an idiot . . . honey."
Oh well, I like them and I'm happy that I finally perfected using my circle cutter. I'll be designing a bunch for the holidays because they are just so fun to make!

That's a very clever idea, and such lovely cards too.
Although I'm sure I'd still probably be one of those people who try to pry them open at first, lol.
I would have seen the brad and swung them open...I don't think I'd pry them open.
Since you asked I immediately thought rotate. They are beautiful and if they teach people to do something a little differently than their initial assumption, all the better!
I saw the picture and thought "spin" and I'd like to say I'd do that first. Its just kind of hard to say. Either way they are beautiful, and good luck with them!! Maybe you could do a circle envelope and put something in the corner like "See your "Spin Card" inside!" to try to give them a hint?
These are adorable! I'm right there with you, I'm always shocked when something so obvious to me it's to others!!! I believe I would see the grommet and know to swing it to the side. But I know what a grommet is! I wouldn't want to see you change the design, I love it. I think I've seen a score line under grommets. That way if someone does try to pry it open, it will give on the fold line and not ruin the card.
I'm no genius but I saw the brad and knew to turn them before I even read anything.
Neat idea!
I'd have spun it. It seems so obvious.
On the other hand, I make cards with removable hanging paper dolls, and one shop I put them in said they needed labels to indicate that. Since they were in plastic sleeves, to protect them, I printed the little labels and put them on the sleeve.
Maybe you could do something like that. Hmm. If you didn't want to use a sleeve, you could maybe print on tissue weight paper, "Pull this tag off, and spin to open."
Just thinking with my fingertips...

PS You do this with bleach?! I LOVE it!!
I think I'd slide if I was paying attention - but if I was excited about getting a card, it'd be likely that I open it immediately, and that's when I'd prolly try to flip. :(
Depends though. It's hard to miss the brad, even though the designs are very nice. :)
A great idea. And sliding is the perfect way to go about it with circles.
